Should you invite the whole class?

Answer two questions about your child’s birthday party. You’ll get a suggestion for the guest list and how to send the invitations.

1. Will the invitations go out at school?

Handed out in class or sent home in backpacks.

2. Who is on your child’s list?

The rule behind it

You only need to invite the whole class if the invitations go out at school. A smaller guest list is fine when the invitations go privately to parents.

The cut-off to avoid is “almost everyone.” Pick a line you could explain in one sentence: the whole class, all the girls or all the boys, or a small group of close friends.
